During the summer of 2020, the United States commemorated the 30th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the landmark federal civil rights law for people with disabilities. The Center for Health Equity conducted several research activities from July to September 2020, on behalf of ADA-Indiana, the state steering committee for the implementation of the ADA.
The purpose of these activities was to gather insights and reflections about the ADA during the 30th anniversary year and ADA implementation in Indiana from various stakeholders, including people with disabilities and disability-related organizations.
The report, The Americans with Disabilities Act at 30 for Hoosiers with Disabilities, presents the findings from interviews with leaders of disability advocacy organizations, regional town hall meetings, and an online survey. Funding for these activities was provided by the Indiana Governor's Council for People with Disabilities.
